El a fost unul dintre Cei Sapte Diaconi, si unul dintre Cei Saptezeci de Apostoli mai Mici (Fapte 6: 5). El a fost ridicat si sfintit Episcop al cetatii Bostra din Arabia. Acolo el a propovaduit cu rîvna Sfînta Evanghelie si a îndurat multe chinuri de la pagîni. El a fost aruncat în foc, dar a ramas nevatamat. La urma a murit rastignit fiind pe cruce, si asa s-a stramutat fericitul lui suflet întru împaratia lui Hristos.
