El a trait în vremea împaratilor Iustin al Doilea [cel Nou] si Mauriciu (565-602). El a fost fiu de aristocrati. El s-a lepadat de toata bogatia si slava cea desarta a lumii si s-a retras la o mînastire spre a vietui întru asprele nevointe calugaresti, întru mîntuirea sufletului. El mai apoi a fost înaltat episcop al cetatii Amisus din provincia Cappadocia. Ca mare ascet si ca ierarh, Sfîntul Fior a placut lui Dumnezeu, întru Care sa savîrsit cu pace, stramutîndu-se la locasurile ceresti cele gatite lui.
