Ea a ramas vaduva de tînara, avînd trei copii. Astfel aflîndu-se, ea s-a închinat pe sine cu totul slujirii lui Dumnezeu si cresterii celor trei copii ai ei întru toata sfintenia si evlavia. Sfînta Anastasia a locuit în casa ei cînd s-a aflat în Macedonia, si împreuna cu ea a cercetat mucenicii din închisori. Adusa înaintea judecatorului, Sfînta Theodota L-a marturisit cu îndrazneala pe Hristos Dumnezeu. Atunci a fost dusa înaintea lui Nichita, Proconsulul Bitiniei. Voind necuratul pagîn sa se atinga de trupul ei, el a vazut tot atunci un înger înfricosat al lui Dumnezeu lînga dînsa, care 1-a izbit cu sabia lui. Sfînta Theodota a fost osîndita sa moara arsa de vie, împreuna cu cei trei copii ai ei. Intrînd cu ai ei copii în cuptorul de foc, ea s-a savîrsit împreuna cu dînsii catre Domnul, si asa s-au stramutat cu totii la locasurile cele fericite ale împaratiei lui Hristos.
