Sfantul Eustatie a fost un aparator al Ortodoxiei. A aparat sfintele dogme la Sinodul intai Ecumenic de la Niceea (din anul 325), unde a respins invatatura lui Arie. Impreuna cu ceilalti Sfinti Parinti, Eustatie a marturisit pe lisus Hristos ca Fiu al lui Dumnezeu, ca fiind deopotriva cu Tatal si cu Sfantul Duh dupa dumnezeire (dupa fiinta lor dumnezeiasca). Dupa moartea imparatului Constantin cel Mare, arienii au luat putere si au inceput sa-i prigoneasca pe crestini. Sfantul Eustatie a fost scos din scaun si surghiunit, mai intai in Tracia, apoi in Macedonia. Sfantul Eustatie a suferit mult si a trecut la cele vesnice in anul 345 dupa Hristos.
