El a fost de neam sîrb, si întemeietorul Mînastirii Sfîntului Nicolae din Sfîntul Munte Athos, numita si "Grigoriu", dupa numele lui. A sa chilie întru care s-a nevoit cu post, tacere, rugaciune si lacrimi, se afla cam la un sfert de ora distanta de Mînastire. La anul 1761 un mare incendiu a cuprins Mînastirea, din care pricina un numar de frati au luat si sfintele lui moaste si le-au mutat în Serbia. Acest barbat dumnezeiesc s-a savîrsit cu pace la anul 1406 dupa Hristos.
