Sfîntul Nicon acesta s-a nascut în Armenia. Trezindu-se cu duhul la auzul dumnezeiestilor cuvinte: Tot cel ce va lasa pe tata sau pe mama...înmultit va lua înapoi si va mosteni viata vesnica (Matei 19: 29), el a lepadat cu adevarat toate pentru dragostea lui Hristos si sa dus la o mînastire unde s-a tuns monah. Desavîrsindu-se acolo întru toate virtutile, Sfîntul Nicon a parasit mai apoi mînastirea si a mers din loc în loc, propovaduind Sfînta Evanghelie la popor. El striga pretutindeni, fara încetare, Pocaiti-va! De aceea 1-au si numit oamenii chiar cu numele „Pocaiti-va". El a strabatut toata Anatolia si Peloponnesul propovaduind Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu. El a facut minuni mari cu rugaciunea, întru Numele lui Hristos, si s-a odihnit la urma cu pace, întru bucuria Domnului lui. Savîrsirea lui a fost la Sparta, în anul 998.
