El a fost din Paflagonia, concetatean si contemporan al Sfîntului Alipie Stîlpnicul. lubindu-L desavîrsit pe Domnul Hristos, el s-a daruit pe sine cu totul celor mai aspre vietuiri pustnicesti. El s-a lepadat desavîrsit de toate pentru dragostea lui Hristos. Mai înainte de sfînta adormirea lui, s-au pogorît din cer înger spre a duce sufletul lui la cer, iar fata lui a stralucit ca soarele. Sfîntul Stelian a fost mare facator de minuni si în timpul vietii, si dupa a lui moarte. Rugaciunile lui sînt mai cu seama grabnic ajutatoare cînd este vorba de copii bolnavi si de familii fara de copii.
