Родум од Етолија, од селото Мегадендрон (Големо дрво). Како момче отиде на Света Гора и во манастирот Филотеј беше потстрижен за монах. Но гонет од постојана желба да му го проповеда Евангелието на народот, тој отиде во Цариград и испроси благослов од патријархот Серафим II. Ги обиколи сите придунавски краеви проповедајќи го Евангелието, но најмногу се задржа во Албанија, каде што пострада од некој Курт паша, когошто Евреите го раздразнија против Козма. Свети Козма беше удавен од Турците, па потоа фрлен во река, во 1779 година. Неговите чудотворни мошти почиваат во селото Колкоидас, во храмот на Пресвета Богородица, недалеку од градот Фиери. Пострада за Господ во шеесет и петтата година од животот.
