Голем јерарх, проповедник, писател и подвижник. Се роди близу Киев во 1651 година, а се упокои на молитва во 1709 година. Покрај многуте славни поучни дела особено се прочу со преводот и изданието на Житијата на Светиите. Ја предвиде својата смрт три дена порано и се упокои на молитва. Големо светило на Руската Црква, т.е. на Православната Црква воопшто. Имаше небесни виденија за време на животот. Му послужи ревносно на Господ и се пресели во Небесното Царство.
