Син Веириин од племето Исахарово. Живееше и пророкуваше 800 години пред Христа. Неговите боговдахновени зборови се наоѓаат во неговата книга составена од четиринаесет глави. Му упати многу укорувања на Израилот и на Јуда за идолопоклонството, пророкуваше за казната Божја за гревовите, ја прорече пропаста на Самарија и на Израилот заради богоотстапништвото, а и милоста Божја кон Јудиното колено. Го прорече укинувањето и престанокот на старозаветната жртва и доаѓањето на Господ и богатството на даровите коишто Он ќе ги донесе со Себе на земјата. Живееше до длабока старост и мирно се упокои.
