Од градот Кир во Сирија. Се одликуваше со благородно потекло и со вонредна телесна убавина. Сѐ остави заради Христа и се повлече во пустината Халкидска заради отшелнички подвиг. Тој е современик на патријархот Флавијан Антиохиски и на царевите Констанциј и Валент. Во неговата келија ноќе светеше Божествена светлина, под која го читаше Светото Писмо и никогаш немаше потреба од друга светлина. Беше голем чудотворец за време на животот и после смртта. Пред смртта му заповеда на својот ученик Евсевиј да го скрие неговото тело и тајно да го закопа, заради мноштвото обожаватели. Се упокои во Господ во 387 година.
