Во времето на успението на Пресвета Богородица и Еротеј се јави во Ерусалим и учествуваше во погребот. Со своето Божествено пеење мнозина ги приведе кон срдечно умиление и се покажа себеси како маж вдахновен одозгора. Многу се потруди во делото на Евангелието, многубројни незнабожци ги обрати кон вистината, добро го управуваше своето словесно стадо, и најпосле заврши маченички за Христа, Кој[to му даде двоен венец во Царството Небесно: венец на јерарх и венец на маченик.
