Во 1841 година кога во Ватопед ја поправаа костурницата, мајсторите најдоа мошти на некој човек во став на клечење и со икона на Пресвета Богородица во рацете на градите. Необично убав мирис се разлеваше од тие мошти. Не знаејќи ни кој бил тој свет маж ниту кога живеел, монасите му го дадоа името Евдоким и неговите мошти ги пренесоа во црквата во којашто стојат и денес. Од тие мошти настанаа многубројни чудесни исцеленија. На сребреното ковчеже и денес стојат врежани зборовите: „Ова ковчеже за чесната главата на Св. Евдоким го изработи монахот Гаврил, когошто овој светител го исцели од тешка болест.“
