Черниговскиот кнез Михаил отиде во татарската орда со својот бојарин Теодор на повик од царот Бати. Но бидејќи не сакаа според татарскиот обичај да поминат низ оган и да им се поклонат на идолите при влезот кај царот, ги убија со меч, во 1244 година. Нивните мошти сведочат за нивната маченичка смрт за Господ Христос и почиваат во Архангелскиот храм во Москва.
