Крунисан за крал во манастирот во Жича, од својот брат Свети Сава. Побожен христијанин, мудар и мирољубив владетел. Заедно со својот брат го воздигна Православието меѓу својот народ до големо торжество. Според неговата желба пред смртта Св. Сава го замонаши и му го даде името Симон. Се упокои во Господ на 24 септември 1224 година. Неговите чудотворни мошти почиваат во Студеница.
