Еден од Дванаесеттемина (големи) апостоли. Беше родум од Кана Галилејска. На свадба му дојде Господ Исус со мајка му и со учениците. Кога снема вино, Господ претвори вода во вино. Кога го виде ова, младоженецот ги остави домот, родителите и невестата, па тргна по Христа. Зилот значи Ревнител. А Симон е наречен Ревнител заради неговата голема и огнена ревност кон Спасителот и кон Неговото Евангелие. Кога Го прими Светиот Дух, Симон отиде да го проповеда Евангелието во Мавританија во Африка. Откако успеа мнозина да ги обрати во верата Христова, беше мачен и најпосле распнат на крст како неговиот Господ, Којшто му приготви венец на слава во бесмртното царство.
