Овој светител беше римски офицер при царот Максимијан. Одговарајќи на суд за својата вера во Христа, тој рече дека таа благочестива вера ја наследил од родителите и дека во неа се утврдил гледајќи ги многубројните чудесни исцеленија од моштите на христијанските светители. После големи маки претрпени храбро во тракискиот град Пиринт, Акакиј беше спроведен во Византија, каде издржа нови маки, додека најпосле не го убија со меч. Чесно пострада и се пресели во царството на вечната радост во 303 година.
