Родум Бугарин од Габрово. Како момче го остави родниот крај и отиде во Анадолија. Таму во едно село Сома, чуваше овци. Но со својата вера го навлече на себе гневот на Турците и еден ага го фрли во затвор. После долги мачења, нечовечно малтретирање, а кое Лазар од љубов кон Христа го поднесе храбро, го убија на 23 април 1802 година. Господ го прими во Своите вечни дворци и го прослави на небото и на земјата. Од неговите свети мошти се случија многубројни чуда.
