Евстохиј беше идолски жрец во времето на царот Максимијан. Гледајќи го херојството на христијанските маченици го отфрли незнабоштвото и се крсти. Го крсти самиот епископ Антиохиски Евдоксиј. Потоа Евстохиј полека ги обрати сите свои роднини во Христовата вера. Гај му беше роднина и се крсти заедно со тројцата младенци: Пров, Лолиј и Урбан. Сите овие, а уште и други со нив, беа изведени пред суд, мачени и искасапени заради верата во Господ Христос, во Листра. Нивните души се преселија во бесмртното Царство Христово.
