Од завист кон епископот, Теофил му ја предаде душата на ѓаволот и на хартија се одрече од Христа и од Богородица. Но потоа горко се покаја, по четириесетдневен пост и солзливи молитви, плачејќи испроси прошка од Светата Пречиста и ја прими назад напишаната хартија што му ја беше дал на ѓаволот. Јавно го исповеда својот грев во црквата пред епископот и народот. И кога епископот му изрече простување и го причести, лицето на Теофил заблеска посилно од сонцето. Тој е пример дека Бог не само што им ги простува гревовите на вистинските покајници туку и ги вбројува меѓу светителите.
