Роден е во Александрија и рано стапи во манастир. Се удостои со големи откровенија и голема благодат, така што и мртви воскреснуваше и ги изгонуваше демоните од демоноопседнатите. Прво беше епископ во Александрија, но на заповед од небото прејде во Италија, во незнабожечкиот град Врунтисиопол, којшто сиот го покрсти и во кој Ѝ изгради храм на Богородица. После голем и успешен подвиг се пресели во вечноста, во времето на царот Теодосиј II, во 5 век.
