Мнозина Елини ги обрати во верата Христова, заради што од незнабожците беше луто мачен со глад, затвор и ќотек. Гол го положија на земја, го врзаа за четири суви колца, па немилосрдно го биеја додека не му го свлекоа месото од коските. Но маченикот сепак остана жив, а оние суви колци зазеленеа и пораснаа во високи дрвја, од коишто големо мнозинство болни добиваа исцеление. Најпосле Свети Терапонт беше заклан како јагне, во времето на Валеријан и со душата се пресели во Царството Небесно за да ја гледа славата Божја во вечноста. Чесно пострада 259 година.
