Во страшното време на турското владеење овој голем јерарх отиде на Московскиот Собор во 1655 година. Кога се врати го обвинија за велепредавство. Притоа неколкумина зли Евреи покренаа против него обвинение затоа што беше превел неколку Евреи во Христовата вера. Во обвинението Евреите наведоа дека тој работи на покрстувањето на Турците, а рекоа така за со тоа да ги наострат против него турските власти. Судот му пресуди да ја прими мухамеданската вера. Но бидејќи не сакаше, по извесно време поминато во затвор го осудија на смрт и го обесија во Бруса, во 1659 година. Овој Свет Гаврил од својот возљубен Христос беше даруван со два венци, на јерарх и на маченик.
