Како млад им се налути на родителите и пред Турците изјави дека ќе се потурчи. Веднаш потоа се покаја за тие зборови, отиде во Хилендар и се замонаши. Го мачеше совеста и се одлучи за мачеништво. Со благослов на неговиот духовник појде во Трново пред Турците и се објави како христијанин, го исмеа Мухамед и за ова го заклаа на 4 јануари 1818 година во триесет и втората година од неговиот живот. Телото на овој духовен витез не е сочувано, зашто Турците го фрлија во морето.
