Епископ на градот Тагрита во Месопотамија. Прочуен по верата и добрината. Го ублажи гневот на персискиот цар Издегерд кон христијаните, ги испроси од него моштите на четиристотини маченици во Персија и основа посебен град, Мартиропол, каде што ги положи тие Свети мошти. Во тој град се упокои и самиот во 422 година и замина кај Господ.
