Γεννήθηκε στό Νίκσιτς τοῦ Μαυροβουνίου, σέ πτωχή οἰκογένεια. Νέος μόνασε στή Σερβική Μονή Μοράτσα, ὅπου δέχθηκε τήν Ἱερωσύνη καί ἀναδείχθηκε Ἡγούμενος. Ὅταν οἱ μοναχοί πιεζόμενοι ἀπό τίς βιαιοπραγίες τῶν Ὀθωμανῶν ἐγκατέλειψαν τήν μονή, ὁ Ὅσιος ἐγκαταβίωσε σέ ὀρεινό σπήλαιο, ὅπου ἀπέφυγε τίς Τουρκικές ληστοσυμμορίες μέ τρόπο θαυματουργικό. Μετά ἀπό ἑπτά χρόνια διαμονῆς στόν τόπο αὐτό, ἀναχώρησε στήν περιοχή τῆς Σκεντερίας καί ἐγκαταβίωσε σέ κτῆμα τῆς Οἰκογενείας Πίπερι, ὅπου ἔκτισε παρεκκλήσιο ἀφιερωμένο στό Γεννέθλιο τῆς Παναγίας. Σταδιακά ἡ διαμονή του ἐξελίχθηκε σέ μονή, στήν ὁποία ὁ Ὅσιος ἡγουμένευσε 37 χρόνια.
