Ο Άγιος Βασίλειος έζησε στη Ρωσία μεταξύ του 13ου και του 14ου αιώνα μ.Χ. και λόγω των αρετών του εξελέγη Επίσκοπος Ριαζάν και Μούρωμ. Ήταν εκείνος που διαπλέοντας θαυματουργικά νερό, μετέφερε τη θαυματουργική εικόνα της Παναγίας του Μούρωμ στην πόλη του Ριαζάν. Κοιμήθηκε οσίως με ειρήνη. Η Εκκλησία εορτάζει, επίσης, τη μνήμη του στις 21 Μαΐου, 10 Ιουνίου, 3 Ιουλίου και 10 Ιουλίου.
