Οι Άγιοι Ηλιόδωρος και Δοσάς (ή Δοσαί ή Σοδάς) έζησαν επί βασιλείας Σαβωρίου, που ήταν βασιλιάς των Περσών. Αυτός λοιπόν, με τα στρατεύματα του, κατέλαβε μια πόλη των Ρωμαίων και άρχισε να γκρεμίζει τους ναούς των χριστιανών και να καίει τις άγιες εικόνες. Τότε ο Ηλιόδωρος, που τότε ήταν 95 χρονών, μαζί με τον Δοσά, παρουσιάστηκαν στον ασεβή βασιλιά και του έκαναν δριμύτατες παρατηρήσεις, ομολογώντας συγχρόνως τον Χριστό Θεό αληθινό. Τότε ο Σαβώρ τους βασάνισε σκληρά και ανελέητα. Αφού έκοψε τις μύτες τους, τελικά τους θανάτωσε καίγοντας τα κεφάλια τους.
