Η μνήμη του Αγίου Αιθέριου αναφέρεται στον Παρισινό Κώδικα 1611. Μαρτύρησε επί Μαξιμιανού (286 - 305 μ.Χ.) και επειδή δεν δέχτηκε να αρνηθεί τον Χριστό και να θυσιάσει στα είδωλα, έβαλαν στ' αυτιά του πυρακτωμένα σίδερα, ώστε οι κόρες των ματιών του να πεταχτούν έξω. Κατόπιν τον έδεσαν σ' ένα τροχό και έβαλαν χαλινάρι στο στόμα του. Στη συνέχεια αφού τον έκαψαν με αναμμένες λαμπάδες, τελικά τον αποκεφάλισαν.
