Ο σεισμός αυτός έγινε στα χρόνια του βασιλιά Θεοδοσίου του Μικρού (410 μ.Χ.). Και σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, κατά την ώρα της λιτανείας, στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, αρπάχτηκε στον αέρα ένα παιδί, για να αποκαλύψουν οι Άγγελοι του Κυρίου τις λανθασμένες δοξασίες των αιρετικών θεοπασχιτών.
