Σύμφωνα με την ιστοσελίδα του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου, ο Άγιος Κυριάκος ήταν πρεσβύτερος και οικονόμος της μεγάλης Εκκλησίας, και διαδέχθηκε στον οικουμενικό θρόνο τον Ιωάννη τον Νηστευτή το 595 μ.Χ. Θεοφιλώς αφού κυβέρνησε την εκκλησία, απεβίωσε ειρηνικά το 606 μ.Χ. Πριν τον 12ο αιώνα μ.Χ. η μνήμη του Αγίου Κυριάκου εορταζόταν στις 30 Οκτωβρίου.
