Ο Άγιος Σεραπίων έζησε στα χρόνια του βασιλιά Σεβήρου και ήταν άνδρας θεοσεβής και αγαθός στην προαίρεση. Συνελήφθη από τον άρχοντα Ακύλα και όταν ρωτήθηκε ποιας θρησκείας είναι, ομολόγησε με θάρρος, ότι πιστεύει και σέβεται τον Χριστό. Τότε τον έριξαν στη φωτιά και τον έκαψαν ζωντανό, λαμβάνοντας έτσι το αμαράντινο στεφάνι του μαρτυρίου
