Кад Тамерлан опколи Москву са безбројном војском, Руси пренесосе чудотворну икону Пресвете Богородице из Владимира у опкољени град и сав народ се са сузама поче молити Светој Пречистој. Наједампут се сва војска татарска, без видљивог разлога, поче зурно повлачити. Тамерлан у сну имаше виђење: облаци светитеља носаху се под небесима, у средини њиховој Света Богородица као царица, и још даље безбројна војска ангела. Богородица оштро пречасе Тамерлану и наређиваше му да одступи са руске земље, а светитељи махаше својим жезлима. Ужаснут овим сном, Тамерлан нареди повлачење.
