Ὁ Ἅγιος Μάρτυς Ἀλέξανδρος τελειώθηκε μαρτυρικὰ διὰ ξίφους. Στὸν Κώδικα 152 Supll. Παρισίων ἀναφέρεται ὅτι ἦταν Ἐπίσκοπος, ἐνῷ στὸ Λαυριωτικὸ Κώδικα Ι 70, φ. 238β, ἀναφέρεται ὅτι ὁ Ἅγιος ἦταν στρατιώτης τοῦ τάγματος τῶν Τιβεριανῶν κατὰ τοὺς χρόνους τοῦ αὐτοκράτορος Μαξιμιανοῦ (285 – 305 μ.Χ.). Ὁ Σωφρόνιος Εὐστρατιάδης θεωρεῖ ὅτι ἡ ἀναφορὰ «ἐπὶ κόμητος Τιβεριανοῦ» παραμορφώθηκε εἰς «ἐπισκόπου Τιβεριανῶν».
