Ο Άγιος αυτός ήταν χριστιανός από την Περσία και πήγε στον επίσκοπο Συμεών για να διδαχθεί τελειότερα τον λόγο της αληθείας. Όταν επέστρεφε στο σπίτι του, στο δρόμο, δίδασκε στους προσερχόμενους σ' αυτόν τα περί της οικονομίας του Χριστού. Έτσι κατόρθωσε να φέρει στη Χριστιανική πίστη πολλούς άπιστους και να τους βαπτίσει. Οι πυρολάτρες όμως Πέρσες τον κατάγγειλαν στον βασιλιά, ο όποιος τον συνέλαβε και αφού δεν μπόρεσε να τον μεταπείσει ο ίδιος, τον παρέδωσε στους αρχιμάγους για να τον πείσουν αυτοί ν' αρνηθεί τον Χριστό. Αφού και αυτοί, κατόπιν πολλών βασανιστηρίων, δεν μπόρεσαν να το κατορθώσουν, τελικά τον αποκεφάλισαν και έτσι πήρε το αμάραντο στεφάνι του μαρτυρίου.
