Η Αγία Θεοσεβία έζησε τον 4ο μ.Χ. αιώνα. Μερικοί ιστορικοί πιστεύουν ότι η Αγία Θεοσεβία ήταν σύζηγος του Αγίου Γρηγορίου Νύσσης, η οποία πέθανε αρκετά νέα. Ωστόσο, ο Κύριλλος Α', πατριάρχης Ιεροσολύμων, σε ένα γράμμα του προς τον Άγιο Γρηγόριο Νύσσης την αναφέρει σαν αδελφή του. Πάντως, αυτό που μπορούμε να πόυμε σίγουρα είναι ότι ο Άγιος Γρηγόριος ο Θεολόγος την αποκαλεί «όντως ιερά, το της Εκκλησίας καύχημα, το του Χριστού καλλώπισμα, το της καθ' ημάς γενεάς όφελος, την γυναικών παρησσίαν και των μεγάλων μυστηρίων αξίαν».
