Ο Όσιος Παύλος της Ομπνόρα γεννήθηκε στη Μόσχα περί το έτος 1317 μ.Χ. Η αγάπη του προς το μοναχικό βίο οδήγησε τα βήματά του σε μονή της περιοχής Πριλούκι της Ρωσίας. Στους ασκητικούς του αγώνες μιμήθηκε τον Άγιο Σέργιο του Ραντονέζ και έγινε από τους πιο ονομαστούς και αγαπημένους στάρετς (Γέροντες) της Ρωσίας. Ο Όσιος Παύλος κοιμήθηκε με ειρήνη το 1429 σε ηλικία 112 ετών.
