Είναι άγνωστο από που κατάγονταν οι Άγιοι Μάρτυρες Κρήσκης, Παύλος και Διοσκορίδης, οι οποίοι άθλησαν το 244 μ.Χ., επί αυτοκράτορα Γορδιανού Γ' (238 - 244 μ.Χ.). Βρισκόμενοι στη Ρώμη και κηρύσσοντας το λόγο του Θεού, μετέστρεφαν και βάπτιζαν πολλούς από τους ειδωλολάτρες. Εξ αιτίας αυτού, αφού συνελήφθησαν, ρίχθηκαν στη φυλακή. Αλλά και εκεί εξακολουθούσαν μεταξύ των συγκρατουμένων τους το θεοφιλές έργο τους, πολλούς των οποίων έφεραν προς την Χριστιανική πίστη. Η ηγεμόνας πληροφορήθηκε αυτό και διέταξε, αφού μαστιγωθούν σκληρά, να ριχθούν μέσα σε αναμμένο καμίνι, όπου έλαβαν τον αμαράντινο στέφανο του μαρτυρίου και της δόξας.
