Εδώ γίνεται κάποια σύγχυση σχετικά με τα βιογραφικά στοιχεία του Αγίου αυτού. Στους Συναξαριστές είναι καταχωρημένος χωρίς υπόμνημα. Αλλά μάλλον πρόκειται περί του Αλεξάνδρου, για τον όποιο ο Λαυριωτικός Κώδικας 1170 φ. 238β λέει, ότι έζησε στα χρόνια του βασιλιά Ρώμης Μαξιμιανού (285 - 305 μ.Χ.) και ήταν στρατιώτης στο στράτευμα του κόμη Τιβεριανού, που βρισκόταν στην επισκοπή Κεντουλλες ή Κεντουλίνες ή Κέλλες, από την οποία και καταγόταν. Με το πέρασμα των χρόνων, οι διάφοροι συγγραφείς βιογραφιών αγίων, τον μεταμόρφωσαν σε επίσκοπο και από το τάγμα των Τιβεριανών, που ήταν καταταγμένος, πήρε και τον τίτλο της ανύπαρκτης επισκοπής (βλέπε 14 Μαΐου).
