Διάφοροι Συναξαριστές καθώς και τα Μηναία, από παραδρομή αναφέρουν την ήμερα αυτή μνήμη του Αναστασίου πατριάρχου Κωνσταντινουπόλεως. Εννοούν δε τον Αναστάσιο εκείνο, που διαδέχτηκε τον πατριάρχη Γερμανό (τιμάται 12 Μαΐου) αφού τον υποστήριξε ο Λέων ο Γ΄ και συνέπραξε εναντίον των αγίων εικόνων. Αυτός ήταν τόσο μισητός στον κόσμο των ορθοδόξων, ώστε, καθώς εξιστορεί ο Δοσίθεος Ιεροσολύμων, τη στιγμή που γινόταν πατριάρχης, ευσεβείς και σεμνές γυναίκες της Κωνσταντινούπολης, ώρμησαν στην Εκκλησία με πέτρες και ξύλα, και, φωνάζοντας τον πληρωμένο προδότη και λύκο, τον έδιωξαν. Τέτοιος ελεεινός Ιεράρχης, δεν έχει φυσικά καμιά θέση στην τάξη των Αγίων.
