Ο Όσιος Αβραάμης έζησε κατά τους χρόνους του αυτοκράτορα Θεοδοσίου του Μεγάλου (395 - 408 μ.Χ.). Καταγόταν από την πόλη Κύρρο της Συρίας και ανατράφηκε με παιδεία και νουθεσία Κυρίου. Όταν έμαθε ότι σε κάποιο χωριό του Λιβάνου οι κάτοικοι ήταν όλοι ειδωλολάτρες, μετέβη εκεί και με τη διδασκαλία, την αγία βιοτή του και τη φιλανθρωπική του δράση, αφού πλήρωσε ο ίδιος τους φόρους στους εισπράκτορες που πίεζαν τον λαό, προσείλκυσε στη χριστιανική πίστη πολλούς εθνικούς. Οι Χριστιανοί έκτισαν ναό στο χωριό τους και είχαν τον Άγιο ως ιερέα τους.
