Το τίμιο λείψανο του Προφήτη Ζαχαρία βρέθηκε στα χρόνια του Θεοδοσίου του νέου το 409 μ.Χ., στο χωριό Κοφάρ της Ελευθερούπολης στην Παλαιστίνη, από κάποιο άνθρωπο που ονομαζόταν Καλήμερος. Φορούσε λευκό ένδυμα, μίτρα χρυσή στο κεφάλι και σανδάλια χρυσά στα πόδια όπως βρισκόταν στο θυσιαστήριο, όταν λειτουργούσε στον Θεό, όπως χαρακτηριστικά αναφέρει ο Δοσίθεος στη Δωδεκάβιβλο.
