Η θαυματουργή εικόνα της Μεγαλόχαρης Παναγίας της Τήνου, έργο του Ευαγγελιστού Λουκά, βρέθηκε με υπόδειξη και παρακίνηση της ίδιας της Παναγίας, η οποία παρουσιάστηκε λίγες ημέρες πριν την Επανάσταση του 1821 μ.Χ., στον Μιχαήλ Πολυζώη και του είπε για το θέλημά της να χτιστεί Εκκλησία «όπως άλλοτε» στο χωράφι του Δοξαρά.
