Ο Μάρτυς του Χριστού Δομέτιος έζησε κατά τους χρόνους του Ιουλιανού του Παραβάτου (361-363 μ.Χ.) και καταγόταν από την χώρα της Φρυγίας. Βλέποντας όμως ότι πολλοί αρνούνταν τον Χριστό και προσκυνούσαν τα είδωλα, δυσφορούσε και αγανακτούσε. Μία ημέρα, λοιπόν, ενώ γινόταν ιπποδρομία και προσφερόταν θυσία στα είδωλα, δεν μπόρεσε να υπομείνει άλλο. Ποθώντας με Θεϊκό ζήλο να μαρτυρήσει το Όνομα του Θεού, στάθηκε στο μέσο του θεάτρου και με μεγάλη φωνή καταράστηκε τον αποστάτη Ιουλιανό, έπτυσε όλους όσους λάτρευαν τα είδωλα και χλεύασε τους ψεύτικους θεούς. Γι' αυτό συνελήφθη και υπέστη πολλά βασανιστήρια. Στο τέλος, επειδή δεν αρνιόταν τον Χριστό, του απέκοψαν διά ξίφους την ιερά κεφαλή του.
