Κατά τους χρόνους του αυτοκράτορα Μαρκιανού (450 - 457 μ.Χ.) ο Άγιος Μηνάς ο Καλλικέλαδος (κοιμήθηκε 10 Δεκεμβρίου) εμφανίσθηκε μια νύχτα σε κάποιον άνδρα που λεγόταν Φιλομμάτης, ο οποίος είχε καταταγεί στη στρατιωτική σχολή των Ικανάτων και του υπέδειξε τον τόπο όπου έκειτο το άγιο λείψανο αυτού.
