Ο Άγιος Σάββας είναι άγνωστος στους Συναξαριστές και τα Μηναία. Η μνήμη του αναφέρεται στον Σιναϊτικό Κώδικα 631 (10ος - 11ος αιών) ως εξής: «Τίτου καὶ κατάθεσις λειψάνου Βαρθολομαίου ἐν Σηκῷ τῆς Λιπάρεως καὶ τοῦ ἁγίου μάρτυρος Σάβα Βενεθάλων» (Βλ. Τιμοθέου Θέμελη, Τα Μηναία από του ια' - ιγ' αιώνος, σελ. 115).
