Ὁ Ὅσιος Ζωσιμᾶς ἐγεννήθηκε στὸ χωριὸ Σύντα τῆς Συρίας καὶ ἔζησε κατὰ τὸν 5ο καὶ 6ο αἰώνα μ.Χ. Ἀσκήτεψε στὴν περιοχὴ τῆς Φοινίκης καὶ ἀπὸ νεαρὴ ἡλικία ἀκολούθησε τὴν ὁδὸ τοῦ μοναχικοῦ βίου. Διακρίθηκε γιὰ τὴν αὐστηρὴ ἄσκησή του, τὴν ἀφιέρωσή του στὴν ἀδιάλειπτη προσευχὴ καὶ ἄλλες ἀρετές. Γιὰ τὸ θεοφιλὴ βίο του, ὁ Ὅσιος ἔλαβε ἀπὸ τὸν Θεὸ τὸ προορατικὸ χάρισμα καὶ προφήτεψε, ὅταν εὑρισκόταν στὴν Καισάρεια, τὸ φοβερὸ σεισμὸ ποὺ κατέστρεψε τὴν Ἀντιόχεια, τὸ 526 μ.Χ.
