Ὁ Ὅσιος Λεόντιος καταγόταν ἀπὸ τὸ Ἄργος τῆς Πελοποννήσου καὶ ἔζησε κατὰ τὸ β’ ἥμισυ τοῦ 16ου αἰῶνος. Ἐγκαταλείψας τὸν κόσμο, ἀποσύρθηκε στὴν Ἱερὰ Μονὴ τοῦ Διονυσίου τοῦ Ἁγίου Ὄρους, ὅπου παρέμεινε ἀσκούμενος μὲ αὐστηρότητα ἐπὶ ἑξήντα ὀκτὼ ἔτη, κατὰ τὴ διάρκεια τῶν ὁποίων δὲν ἐξῆλθε οὔτε μία στιγμὴ ἀπὸ τὴ μονή. Ἀξιώθηκε ἀπὸ τὸν Τριαδικὸ Θεὸ τοῦ προφητικοῦ χαρίσματος, μετὰ δὲ τὴν ὁσιακὴ κοίμησή του μύρο ἀνέβλυσε ἐκ τῶν ἱερῶν αὐτοῦ λειψάνων.
