Ο Άγιος Ιερομάρτυρας Θεαγένης ήταν επίσκοπος της πόλης Πάριο· την ονομασία της πήρε επειδή είχε κτισθεί από τους Πάριους, κατοίκους της νήσου Πάρου. Η πόλη αυτή βρισκόταν μεταξύ της Κυζίκου και της Λαμψάκου. Αυτός λοιπόν οδηγήθηκε στον Τριβούνο Ζηλικίνθιο και ομολόγησε τον Χριστό Θεό αληθινό. Οπότε τον έδειραν ανελέητα και αφού τον έδεσαν χειροπόδαρα, τον έριξαν στο βυθό της θάλασσας. Έτσι τελείωσε το δρόμο του μαρτυρίου και πήρε από τον Κύριο το αμάραντο στεφάνι της αιώνιας δόξας.
