Ἡ Ἁγία Μάρτυς Ἀντωνίνα καταγόταν ἀπὸ τὴν πόλη Νίκαια τῆς Βιθυνίας καὶ ἔζησε κατὰ τοὺς χρόνους τοῦ αὐτοκράτορα Μαξιμιανοῦ (286 – 305 μ.Χ.). Ὄντας Χριστιανή, φανερώθηκε στὸν Μαξιμιανό, ὅταν ἀναχώρησε γιὰ τὴν Νίκαια καὶ ὁμολόγησε μὲ τόλμη γνώμης τὸν Χριστό. Γι’ αὐτὸ βασανίσθηκε καὶ ὁδηγήθηκε στὴ φυλακή. Ἀφοῦ τὴν ἔβγαλαν ἀπὸ τὴ φυλακή, τὴν πίεσαν μὲ τὴν βία νὰ ἀρνηθεῖ τὸν Χριστό. Ἡ Ἁγία δὲν δέχθηκε καὶ παρέμενε σταθερὴ στὴν πίστη της. Τότε οἱ δήμιοι τὴν κρέμασαν καὶ τῆς ἔγδαραν τὰ πλευρά. Ἔπειτα τὴν τοποθέτησαν πάνω σὲ πυρακτωμένη σχάρα, ἀλλὰ καὶ μετὰ ἀπὸ αὐτὸ τὸ μαρτύριο ἡ Ἁγία παρέμεινε ἀβλαβής.
